Want It? Work for It!
Lovely, toned woman from the past to inspire your fitness motivation. She wanted it. She worked for it. Love her outfit, too.
Get Rewarded
When you lift heavy things, you work out your muscles, and you get strong: that’s a reward in itself. You don’t need to work toward a medal, work toward a stronger you.

When You Feel Like You Can Do Anything
This lovely lady leaping looks fabulous . . . . but that’s not all: she feels fabulous, too. Fitness leads to strength and beauty not only on the outside, but on the inside as well.
Your goals motivate you. So when you feel too lazy to go work out, think about not just a toned body, but an empowered mind and soul. Imagine feeling like you can do anything.
Get New Gym Clothes
Bulky sweaters and ballooning pants do not look conducive to working out. Thank goodness today’s yoga pants and sports bras let you move. Reward yourself with new gym outfits from time to time. It’s a great motivator.
Winter Exercise: Skating!
When your blades sail along the ice, you feel like you are flying. Ice skating hasn’t changed that much over the years. Once you get over the wobbles and gain confidence, there is nothing like it. Love these old images. Hope they inspire you to go to the rink or out on a lake if you are lucky enough to live near an outdoor skating venue. (Click on a pic to see larger image.)
Attitude is All
If you are going to make it through the day, you better pull on your positive pants first thing in the morning. Attitude is everything, especially when it comes to fitness. Plus, cool pants make you feel good.
The Evil Eye
Gym etiquette people, please.
Would You Trust This Pharmacist?

Wash Away Fat
Wouldn’t it be great if we could wash away fat? And “years of age” as well? But this soap would only work if we used it jumping around an Aqua Fitness class. This vintage ad for La-Mar Reducing soap ran in a London paper. I freshened it up in Photoshop.
Ladies, if you want to come down the staircase slimmer like the woman pictured, you going to have to hit the gym before you hit the tub with the fancy soap.
I love the money-back guarantee. I wonder how many buyers sent back their soap.
I put this design on a soap dispenser set on Zazzle.
Vintage Fit
Welcome! I hope you find Vintage Fit amusing and motivational.
I am a graphic designer in Claremont CA.
I designed our lovely lady on the left with the barbells. The image on the right is from on a old Life magazine article.
I like to put an ironic twist on vintage ads and photos and create my own retro artwork. One of my clients is a women’s gym, and I found women get a kick out of seeing sexist advertising turned on its face.
Some of my artwork is available on merchandise in my Zazzle shop.
I welcome ideas for new graphics. The online portfolio for my freelance graphic design business in Claremont can be found at this link.
